Collaboration with painter Christine Safa, Paris, France
documented in 2023, in her former atelier in 75018
Edition iii prints were formed following a collaborative process with the painter Christine Safa. Christine is a French painter of Lebanese origin and is based in Palaiseau. Followed by a discussion during an ongoing friendship, a collaboration has naturally come to life from a mutual feeling we often shared, a longing for our faraway, other homes. Experimenting with figurative and landscape oil paintings, Christine’s artworks of rich colors and forms are layered with smooth strokes of what she describes as: " tributes fragments of memories, which have been welcomed and underwent time, and of experiences of her inner landscapes. " The nostalgia of those landscapes we long for, the light, the air, and the sea, takes shape in edition iii with an ongoing search and recollection of “home”.

The print was adapted from Safa’s work, titled Horizon, with lucid shades of orange, purple, blue, and yellow, complimenting the blue hues of edition iii. It was then printed to 100 percent silk twill fabric in Italy.

Named mavi, the Turkish word for the color blue, edition iii captured the longing for Mediterranean landscapes, explored through subtle colors of the sky and sea, layered with hues of turquoise and blue. They were accompanied by the vivid colors and dreamy landscapes of Christine, thanks to this collaboration.
